THE HISTORY OF OUR PARTNERSHIP
Ikawa Nziza Dry Mill was born from a joint project between Mr. JM RISHIRUMUHIRWA and Schluter S.A. Ikawa Nziza dry mill was created to produce the best coffees and to focuse particularly on specialty coffees and micro lots.
Today Ikawa Nziza is part of the group OLAM International.
The Ikawa Nziza dry mill is situated at 1750m high in Gashoho Commune in northern Burundi, between the towns of Ngozi and Muyinga and Kirundo, in the middle of coffee growing areas.
The traceability of specialty coffees was the goal of the company, Ikawa Nziza wanted to be the missing link in the specialty coffee processing chain in Burundi.
Preserving the quality of the coffee until the export was the feasible misson of the Ikawa Nziza dry mill, thanks to its situation at 1750m high. The location of the Ikawa Nziza dry mill, near the town of Masanganzira, connected by road and located near the Burundian border, allows it to export directly coffee to the seaport of Dar-es-Salam. The objectives of our consumers, both sellers and buyers, were perfectly preserved.
OUR ESSENTIAL VALUES
The Ikawa Nziza dry mill was essential to the local economy. The location of Ikawa Nziza offered to the region the first industry to provide a large number of jobs (for example: more than 300 women were employed during the processing season)
